some of the ruins are from the chineee, some are from natural events. but most of the places i have pictures of have been impacted in some way by the cultural revolution. the yumbulagang, for example, is called the oldest palace in tibet, but that actual structure only dates back to 1984 (i think. maybe that's just a year that [appropriately] sticks out), as the original was destroyed in the "revolution."
